A technology-focused organisation based in Coventry is seeking an experienced Lead Test Engineer to take ownership of quality assurance across a suite of C#/.NET applications and API-driven services.

This is a hands-on leadership role, offering a blend of technical testing and team leadership within a collaborative, engineering-led environment.

The Role

As Lead Test Engineer, you’ll be responsible for defining and driving the testing strategy while remaining actively involved in day-to-day testing activities. You’ll work closely with software engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery across backend systems and APIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and own the testing strategy for C#/.NET software

• Hands-on testing across backend applications and APIs

• Design, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases

• API testing using Postman (collections, environments, automation)

• Review requirements and ensure robust test coverage

• Identify, track, and manage defects through to resolution

• Mentor and support junior and mid-level QA engineers

• Champion QA best practices, tools, and processes

• Collaborate within an Agile/Scrum delivery environment

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Lead or Senior Test Engineer

• Strong experience testing C# / .NET applications

• Solid API testing experience using Postman

• Strong understanding of QA methodologies and SDLC

• Experience working in Agile environments

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Skills

• Test automation experience

• CI/CD and DevOps exposure

• Microservices or distributed systems testing

• SQL or database testing experience
