Job Title: Principal Typescript/Node.js Developer
Location: Manchester (Hybrid – 1-2 days per week in-office)
Salary: £90,000 – £100,000 (DOE)

The Role
As a Principal Developer, you will play a key leadership role in the design, development, and delivery of high-performance SaaS solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to ensure technical excellence, guide architectural decisions, and mentor fellow developers. This is a hybrid role, with 1-2 days per week required in our Manchester office.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable back-end systems using TypeScript and Node.js

Champion best practices in code quality, performance, and security

Work cross-functionally with product, DevOps, and design teams

Help define and evolve the overall system architecture, contributing to long-term technical strategy

Mentor and support other developers, providing code reviews and technical guidance

Take ownership of critical services in a production cloud environment
Essential Skills & Experience

Extensive commercial experience with Typescript and Node.js

Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational database design

Experience with Docker and containerised application development

Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Strong AWS experience will also be considered

Excellent communication and leadership skills

Proven ability to design and scale high-performance SaaS applications
Desirable (But Not Essential)

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code

Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, etc.)

Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven systems
